Many people ask me questions regarding the map coverage. So I decided to post a new article about this here.

The picture itself is self explanatory.

1. Gen 2/3 and 4 have all the 48 states + Canada

2. Generation 5 has 48 states + Canada + Additional Hawaii

3. Generation 6 has 48 states + Canada + Hawaii + Additional Alaska, Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands.

I don't know why they cannot include those additional maps for Generation 23 through 5 at all. If I live in Puerto Rico and own a Generation 2/3 TOyota or Lexus, then buying the car initially with a navigation for a $2K extra option is SUCH A RIPOFF!!! And updating the map won't include the extra map? What?? Maybe someone can explain to me why this is so.

Hi Everyone,
Just want to post a quick ad regarding the latest released navigation disc for all Toyota and Lexus cars equipped with factory navigation system. The disc was released just this Sept 2010. The map is going to be valid for Sept 2010 through Sept 2011.

Generation 2/3 V10.1
This version can no longer be overrided unlike the older versions (up to version 8.1 only). Side note, what I've noticed with the V9.1 is, when you insert this V9.1, it somehow manages to update the firmware and remove the override capability in the older version 8.1. At least that's what happened when I did that to my own car. I'm not sure if that's just my car. Anyone with the same experience, let me know?

Generation 5 V10.1
The biggest difference that I noticed is the "I agree" button has been removed. Other than that, it also has Hawaii map included (and Alaska too? Correct me if I"m wrong)

Those with Generation 6 ECU will need to be updated by dealer since the navigation uses "flash drive" type and need security code. Only dealer can do this.
